Psalm 33:4

Psalm 33:4

The Word of the Lord

There are at least three manifestations of the “Word of the Lord.”

The Word was present at creation, according to John 1, and so the created world is part of God’s Word to us. That Word of the Lord is right and true. It does not lie, it is not devious, and it reflects His goodness, His beauty and His holiness. If we have ears to hear and eyes to see, then the glory of God will reveal itself to us in all that He has made. As Paul writes in Romans 1:20 “Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Creation speaks! Take time to listen!

The second manifestation of the Word; is the written Word – the Scriptures. Here we have everything that God would have us know about His character, His holiness and His truth. Every word is truth, we may take this Book, the Bible, and treat it as God’s personal love letter to you and me. It makes little sense to have such a book, to claim to know it’s amazing author and yet take no time out to read and study its contents!

The third manifestation of the “Word of the Lord” is, of course, Jesus Christ Himself. He is right and true, let no one or nothing take your time and attention like Him. All other friends and family members will have their faults, and fail and let us down, but Jesus never will. “He is faithful in all He does.”  Hallelujah!
