Hebrews 10:22a
Hebrews 10:22a
Let us draw near
Having embraced the teachings of the previous verses we are now issued with an invitation; “Let us draw near to God.” Our sins have been removed and washed away by the blood of the Lamb. The entrance into the holy presence of the Lord has been opened, the dividing curtain on earth was just temporary for it symbolized the body of Christ. He has now ascended to the right hand of God Almighty as our High Priest and made a way for us to approach our Heavenly Father without shame or fear. How do we do this? With what kind of attitude do we trembling mortals approach the glorious throne of our Creator? The author of Hebrews has an answer ready for us, “you must come with sincere hearts and the full assurance that faith brings.” There it is! The attitudes we adopt when approaching the throne of grace are sincerity and faith. In other words, we are genuine in our devotion, and we believe in what Christ has done for us and that it is solely because of His redeeming work that we will be granted access.
Let’s imagine that we have received an invitation to go to the Palace to meet the King and Queen. We dress ourselves in finest clothes to show that we are sincere, and we boldly enter the grounds through the gates and past the sentries, waving our invitations because we believe that we have the right to attend. Jesus Christ has robed us with the perfection of sinlessness, and we have been given the faith to believe that we have access to the Father and the right to approach Him! Therefore, we come wearing robes washed whiter than snow, we enter the gates of the Heavenly courts and angelic guardians wave us through. Then we humbly approach the throne room of our God and our Father, and we are welcomed because we are invited and expected. When will this be? We may seek an audience now in our daily devotions, and we most certainly will be participators in this heavenly gathering in times to come. Hallelujah!
