Hebrews 2:5

Hebrews 2:5

Jesus, the ruler of the world to come

However important some of the Jewish readers of this letter deemed angels to be, they could never compare with the Son of God! The prophets had long testified that He would not only be ruler of the Jews but also King of the whole earth. For instance, listen to these words from Isaiah 11:10, “In that day, the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to Him, and His resting place will be glorious.” Isaiah 42 begins as follows, “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on Him, and He will bring justice to the nations.” And then, in Isaiah 66:22-23 we read, “”As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will Your name and Your descendants endure. From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the Lord.”

The Satan used to be numbered with the angels if it is correct that he was once a highly regarded cherubim, these Scriptures are written to ensure that we all know his future place and his destiny, there is no way that one of the angelic host, however superior they might be, will be able to challenge the role and status of Yeshua. On a coming day He will take control of the earth and restore God’s kingdom, all peoples and nations will bow down to Him and Him alone, and that includes the angelic hosts.

Let us prepare for that day now, by giving Jesus Christ His rightful place in our lives, by making Him King and worshipping and honouring Him now in preparation for all that is to come. Nothing delights the heart of the Lord God more, because in giving proper credence to His Son we show that we are in tune with Him and His evaluations of all that Jesus is, has done and will be! Hallelujah!
