Psalm 139:6
Psalm 139:6
Super-computers!
We mentioned before, in verse 4, the capacity of the world’s most powerful computers. I write this in 2025 and whilst many of us do not believe that the world can keep going as it is, just imagine what might happen if it did! In 50 short years technology has transformed our world. What might it be like in another 50 years? For many people, the complexity of modern electronic devices is way beyond understanding so it is not difficult to understand David’s musings on the knowledge possessed by God. He has already considered the facts that the Lord knows him completely. The Lord knows when he sits down and when he stands up. The Lord knows everything about his thoughts. He knows when David rises from his bed and leaves his house, He also knows when he returns at the end of the day to enjoy a night of rest. God knows David’s words before he even speaks them and has watched over him from the moment he was born (more about this to come), to whatever he plans for tomorrow. David marvels at the fact that the Lord has been with him every second of his existence, although God has not just been an interested spectator, His hand has been upon His son, He has guided and led him, protected him and provided for him all the days of his life. And David knows that the same God will watch over his future and whatever lies beyond.
It's time for us to stop and ponder the way in which the same God has watched over us. How He has stood beside us and carefully monitored our thoughts, words and actions. This Father of David is our Father too; He shows us no less attention and care. We are His children and are never out of His thoughts and His protection. How does He do it? I guess modern powerful computers are just the enemy’s way of replicating the enormous knowledge capacity of God! How can He painstakingly scrutinize all this information and keep every one of us in view? I have to admit, “Suck knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain!” Hallelujah!
