Psalm 139:2
Psalm 139:2
He knows, you know.
One of the first hurdles in our journey of self-discovery is to acknowledge that the Lord God already knows everything there is to know about us! Most people have “skeletons in their cupboards”, all of us have moments or events in our lives that we would never share with anyone. These are often vivid memories, and they haunt us for we are ashamed of what we said or did and thought, or what was said or done to us. We often hear the phrase that infers that someone “got away with it”, in other words they did something wrong but were not caught, the victim or maybe the authorities never found out. Please do not think of God in these terms, He sees it all and He knows it all. If He did not, how could He ever be a fair and righteous judge? His treatment of us is based on the “whole truth and nothing but the truth” because He has access to all the facts. That applies not only to you and me but also to anyone who has caused us hurt or shame.
Let us not think that we can deceive God or hide anything from Him, why He even knows our thoughts before we’ve thought them! I believe the context here is that God is understanding the thought processes in our heads even though we are far off from Him. He knows our desires. He knows what we are planning. He knows what troubles us and what gives us joy and contentment. He knows it all and He knows us through and through. In other words, even the most guilty and rebellious sinner cannot escape the scrutiny of heaven, every mind is being read, and every thought is being recorded. Forget about AI which tries to mimic God’s knowledge, this is SI, Supernatural Intelligence.
If God knows all of this, it should not come as a surprise that He also knows every action we take, when we sit down and when we stand up, why, we may not even remember these things ourselves! How many times did you and I sit and stand yesterday? We don’t know, but He does. Let’s ponder these truths and seek His help to come out of the shadows and live freely in the light of His truth in the knowledge that He knows us better than we know ourselves. And yet, and yet He still loves us. Why? Because He chooses to! Hallelujah!
