Psalm 119:166
Psalm119:166
Wait for His salvation
Two types of response to the Lord are required in this verse. Firstly, we must wait for His salvation and secondly, we follow His commands.
Are we waiting for His salvation? It may be that we are plagued with illness or disability, or weakness of some kind and we have prayed to the Lord and pleaded for His help. It’s a bit like dialling for an ambulance, we know it will come but cannot be sure when! God does not deliberately delay His responses or keep us hanging on to see how much we can take; He times His intervention to perfection and the answers will come. In the meantime, His advice is to wait. The same applies to our understanding of the future, we may long to be rid of this life of suffering or frustration, or we may be among those who have an expectation that Christ will come for His people and liberate them from this world – soon! The command from heaven is the same – “Wait.” While we watch events unfold around us and fear for the future of our world, the Lord is busy preparing His timetable which will be very different to that of the ignorant leaders of the earth’s nations. We need not fear or grow impatient, everything is in hand and working to plan, all that our God says to us is, “Wait.”
Whatever is going on around us and in our personal lives we have one other simple instruction from above, it is to follow His commands. We are to keep pressing on relentlessly, keeping His laws and refusing to be drawn into the devious and deceitful schemes of the enemy; righteousness and truth will guard us and see us through to the day of His salvation. What a prospect awaits those who are faithful and obedient. Hallelujah!
