Psalm 50:10-11

Psalm 50:10-11

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills

Forgive my ancient memories but these verses echo a song that we sang years ago: -

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills

The wealth in every mine.

He owns the rivers and the rocks and rhylls

The sun and stars that shine.

Wonderful riches more than tongue can tell,

He is my Father, so they’re mine as well!

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills

So, I know that He will care for me.

Mankind has forgotten that we are just Estate Managers; that the world does not belong to us. We are not permitted to trash it and exploit or abuse it or anything that lives in it. The God who made it all gave us permission to subdue it and live from it but not to destroy it. It was a gift, and it still is His gift. It is filled with incredible beauty and provision and it is an abomination that mankind strenuously seeks to find any explanation for its purpose and existence, other than the gift of Almighty God. He sings through every bird song, His energy ignites every insect, His beauty and eye for detail is expressed through the plants and flowers that grow and the best explanation that mankind, in all his wisdom, can find is that it all came about by chance! Doesn’t it make you despair? Well, look to the skies, listen to the sounds of creation, be amazed, and give our God the glory that He is due. Your praise is not lost on Him.
