Psalm 24:2
Founded on the seas
The Bible speaks often of the world having foundations. It also talks about pillars, “When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.”  Psalm 75:3. These ideas are meant to convey structure, architecture, sound building principles and design. The world is NOT a random chunk of matter that metamorphed into the planet earth. It is not an anonymous piece of debris from some cosmic explosion. It is a carefully, lovingly and brilliantly constructed dwelling place for human-kind and all of God’s other living organisms. The earth is the Lord’s and because of that, it is perfectly designed and its foundations are secure against any disaster.
David now takes up the thought of the world being founded on the seas and established on the waters. Let’s take that a step further shall we and try to find out what it means?  The starting place is to discover any other Scriptures that promote the same ideas.
Genesis 1:9     And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas. And God saw that it was good.
2 Peter 3:5      The scoffers – “deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water.”
Psalm 104:5-9 He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight; they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them. You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth.
The Psalm 104 verses sound a bit like an Ice Age don’t they? That makes sense if the sun had not yet been created. If we don’t have a scientific manual setting out each stage in the creative process, we do have God’s Word on it all. We are not meant to question so much as to believe and the Bible seems to clearly describe a planet where water, in some form, existed first and covered the land. There are man-made structures on earth that need ballast to keep them stable and the waters do that for our planet. As the earth spins on its daily rotations and takes its annual orbit around the sun, the dead weight of the moving waters are needed to keep stability, hence the tides ebb and flow, regulated by the moon. It is an extraordinary feat of advanced mechanics, too clever to be accidental and way beyond the capability of man; we cannot even work out how it happens! Psalm 24:2 tells us who made it happen and that the water came first and when the waters subsided God the Creator lifted up the land. What a God! How amazing! Hallelujah!
