Psalm4: 2
Lies and damn lies

This verse pours shame on our enemies who seek to shame us, they chase after delusions and false lies. So often the schemes of the enemy are founded on half-truths, twisted truths and outright untruths.  The Psalm goes a little bit further because there are times when it is necessary to remind our human opponents not to look for scapegoats or believe every little drop of tittle tattle that comes their way.  Some people love to jump on the bandwagon and to feast on negatives, their emotions are easily stirred before they have uncovered the truth. Some do not recognise truth, they have made up their minds, they have already prejudiced themselves.
There is a direct correlation here between delusions and the pursuit of false gods. Quite simply, they both represent lies, spiritual lies, devil-inspired lies and damned lies. How easily some people become entrapped by lies! We readily identify those who are addicted to alcohol, drugs, gambling or pornography but addiction to lies is more subtle. Some gullible people believe every word of gossip, every innuendo, every negative comment, every sensational headline. Some thrive on scandal and live in a kind of fantasy world; their own daily soap opera where nothing is at it seems. This is nothing less than demonic and robs them of their dignity and humanity. “God keep us close to the truth. May we revel in truth, pursue truth and only believe the truth.”
V3       David felt the devious tentacles of this kind of onslaught and sought comfort in the Lord. He was a faithful servant, set apart for God. Whatever his enemies might say or do, His cries would be heard in heaven. His actions would be vindicated. If there was no human being on earth who believed in Him or trusted him, he knew that the Lord heard his pleas.  So it is with you and I.
